MenMen were the ones that worked. They sometimes went to the bath house to talk and socialize with other men. A bath house is where the men take baths together. Men went to the agora or the market. There they worked all day. At the end of the day sometimes they would have drinking parties. When they had these parties they would dress up nicely and clean, then when the guest got there the women would go to a different room while the men ate, drank, and were entertained by slaves.

WomenWomen stayed home all day they cleaned, prepared meals, and taught their daughters. The women did not have much to do all day so they also made things such as tapestries, weaving's, pottery, and clothes or other necessities. They would also teach their daughters the basics of math, reading, and writing. Women did not choose who they were married to. Their fathers picked for them. It was usually a matter of money and wealth.

ChildrenBoys went to school from an early age. A slave accompanied each boy to help them in their studies. The boys met in one room where they were divided into groups to learn different things. When the boys were gone the girls would learn the basics of school by their mothers. After their studies they would play games. They made games to play with dice, dolls, toy horses, and more. They would go inside once their mother called them to clean up because the boys were home.

In Sparta men were not allowed to do anything accept train. They were forbidden from plays, and music. These were forbidden because it was thought to make men weak.

Work in Athens was done by slaves. Men usually just sat around and talked politics. Sometimes though, farmers and poorer people still have to work.
